Dog friendly Cottage, Penroc, Mid Wales.
We have just returned from a lovely few days in Wales staying at Penroc, a very cosy cottage with stunning views near Aberystwyth. Sunshine and blue skies all day, a very welcome site after months of rain.
Cwmystwyth is a farming community lying by the Cambrian Mountains and the cottage looks out onto sheep-grazed uplands. Below is the Ystwyth valley with its ancient hanging oaks and contemporary coniferous woodland. It is one of the most beautiful valleys in mid-Wales and there are glorious walks along by the river with spectacular waterfalls in wetter weather. The river is just three minutes walk from Penroc. Devil’s Bridge Falls, three miles from the village is a famous tourist attraction and not to be missed, although the climb is not for the frail or faint-hearted. Nearby is the dramatic and varied Ceredigion coastline
It was cold but we walked for eight miles with Dexter to a little cafe, everyone we met was very friendly. Visited the Red Kite feeding station, had a trip to Aberyswyth, Dexter loves the beach, we had fish and chips Dexter had a sausage. The Red Kite Cafe is under new management and the staff were very friendly and made a fuss of our dog.
Just wish we could have stayed longer.
